Kay Redfield Jamison, Night Falls Fast:
Understanding Suicide

OUR MISSION

I offer one-to-one support in a non judgemental environment, a safe place to gradually explore the feelings and thoughts that are impacting on your life. A genuine congruent approach to help you work through the painful stages of the loss of your child, enabling you to reach a place of understanding, taking control of your loss and the memory of your child.

The bereavement journey is a difficult road, the twists and turns and the ability to cope day to day with the trauma can be helped by counselling. Rationalising negative, self destructive thoughts can help with the intense overwhelming pain that you endure through grief and bereavement.

I can provide early support post loss, with no time restriction. Please contact me via the details given below.

"The longest walk home any parent will ever take is the one after their child has 'run' ahead of them."

About Jacqui

My background is predominantly 40 years as a registered professional in the Health Care Sector. I have worked as a bereavement group facilitator and also as a helpline volunteer for a suicide bereavement charity. Gaining vast experience of the crisis and trauma associated with loss by suicide my qualifications and experience of my own personal bereavement journey have influenced my decision to work alongside the bereaved as a Counsellor, Group Facilitator.

The emotional carnage following a loss by suicide is devastating and can have a long term effect on all involved. Family dynamics can be damaged at a time when you need support, to cope with the intense grief from the loss of your loved one.

Bereavement counselling gives you the space and time for you to be listened to with genuine compassion and empathy, very deserving of the bravery from such life changing tragedy. It takes immense strength to get through each day and to reach acceptance. Understanding your emotions and coming to terms with survivor guilt is very much a part of this painful process.

Bereavement enters our lives without invitation and changes our lives forever, bringing grief and pain from the love you felt for that person. Losing a child is a life changing experience, as parents we don't expect to survive our children. Hopes and dreams are taken away, and the void left to cope with that is overwhelming and heart wrenching.

Your loss is personal to you. You will be listened to as an individual in a non-judgemental place. I also offer bereavement counselling for the devastation experienced by infant loss and the families of stillborn babies.

My contact details are available and we can discuss appointment times available when you call.

Infant Loss

Losing a baby at miscarriage, stillbirth, and sudden loss is devastating, heartbreaking and goes against the hopes and dreams for the parents, siblings, grandparents and others close to you as a family.

Having to cope with an Inquest and baby Post Mortem can also add to your distress. Seeking support when you feel able can offer you hope at such a difficult and emotional time. This is a time for sensitivity and compassion to be offered by professionals, helping you in the early days of intense grief and loss.

Your bereavement journey is personal to you. Support and counselling may help you talk about your infant and the emotions that are part of your loss, offering support and hope.

Your child existed and will live on in your hearts forever.

"An angel in the book of life wrote down my baby's birth, and whispered as she closed the book. Too beautiful for earth."

HOPE

"May every sunrise hold more promise and every sunset hold more peace."

Domestic Abuse

No one adult or child deserves to be abused, either physically, sexually, psychologically, emotionally, verbally or financially. There are organisations that can help.

Talking things through with a trained, empathetic listener may help you to overcome your fears of leaving the situation that is causing you so much pain and distress. Supporting you to make the decision that you control and to find a safe place, either for yourself, or as a family if you have children.

Bullying & Harassment

Bullying can be perpetrated in various ways, leaving the victim feeling isolated and alone. The impact of bullying behaviour can cause anxiety, depression and even addiction, which can lead on to homelessness and sadly even suicide.

Some people are unable to show their emotions and seem to be ok, no-one is ok when they are being intimidated and controlled. If this is happening to you at school, work or other areas of your life, find someone that you can trust to listen. Sharing your anxiety and concerns, instead of bottling up how you are feeling, may help you to talk, allowing you mental space and helping you find support at a time of despair.

Poppy the dog

"When you lose your dog, you lose a great pal and it's so hard. You see her around every corner of the house and there is dog shaped void in your life. To talk about it and share the stories about your dog is so important"

Poppy Page Pet Bereavement Support

Hello, let me introduce myself.

My name is Jacqui Page, and I am a qualified Bereavement Counsellor.

I am also accredited and trained with Blue Cross for pet bereavement support.

My personal journey through loss, brought me a wonderful gift, a puppy that I named Poppy. My gorgeous, fiesty Jrt.

We lived in North Norfolk, (Nelsons County) for ten years. During those years we enjoyed long walks along the beautiful coastline and the countryside. My journey with Poppy, my four pawed rock, helped me through the toughest times.

Poppy passed over the Rainbow Bridge, taking a huge part of my heart with her. I am now based in South Derbyshire, and had some lovely final trips with my girl.

I offer empathetic, person centered support, you can send me an email or call me on 0782 645 0727

Our pets are our best friends. Loyal, unconditional and very much a part of our family. Losing a beloved pet can be heartbreaking and dogs can be a wonderful support in bereavement. A two way process of compassion and purpose at life's most difficult times. A friend who lost her beloved labrador said...

"We love them too much and dont have them for long enough. We are left with wonderful memories of a best friend."

From the Harbourmaster

quotemark During the past 30 years while being employed by Wells Harbour, I have been involved and dealt with many challenging and emotional incidents involving suicide or on occasions attempted suicides. The majority of the public and harbour users don't realise or appreciate the amount of stressful situations the harbour staff have to deal with in their work. quotemark Robert

quotemark Unfortunately for me personally as Harbour Master I have been involved with more cases of suicide within the sea and harbour than I can actually recall. This may sound to some insensitive but on writing this piece I have been surprised and slightly alarmed when searching my memory of how many incidents of suicide I have chosen to blank out. I am confident that the reason for this is that it is part of my mechanism I have adopted to help me deal with the emotional circumstances that surround a suicide.

As a young man I was given some advice when dealing with my first suicide. This was to try and take out the emotional side of the situation and look on the incident as just part of my work. This was to try and start to detach myself from the person.  This is what I have always successfully done and still do to this day.

It is never a nice situation to be in and some incidents are harder than others, especially if you know the individuals. I will always feel for the person who has taken their life, wondering or questioning why things had become so bad, but they felt this was their only option. But I have also seen what individuals will go to to cover their tracks and the lengths they will go to to make sure they succeed.

quotemark As we enjoy the beauty of the coastline and quay, what we may sometimes fail to see is the hard work and dedication that goes on behind the scenes there by the Harbourmaster's Office. The link below will provide you with information and the opportunity to make a donation for such a worthy cause. Thank you Robert for your very honest words. quotemark Jacqui
